John Fetterman Denounces Wagner for Campaigning with Pence While Trump Administration Works to Strip Health Care from 5.3 Million Pennsylvanians

PENNSYLVANIAToday, Lieutenant Governor nominee John Fetterman denounced Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner for campaigning with Vice President Mike Pence while the Trump administration is actively working to strip health care away from 5.3 million Pennsylvanians with pre-existing conditions so they can give handouts to big insurance companies and special interests.

“Scott Wagner’s campaign event with Mike Pence shows that he would rather see big insurance companies and special interests be given handouts rather than protect Pennsylvanians with pre-existing conditions like cancer, Alzheimer’s, or diabetes,” said Mayor Fetterman. “If Scott Wagner, Mike Pence, and Republicans get their way, tens of millions of Americans could lose their health coverage, including more than 5.3 million Pennsylvanians.”

Supporting this type of policy is unsurprising for Scott Wagner. He has supported Donald Trump and his crusade to destroy the Affordable Care Act, which would raise health care costs for millions of hardworking Pennsylvanians, charge an age tax on older citizens, kick seniors out of their nursing homes, and strip access to care from women, people suffering from a substance use disorder, and those with pre-existing conditions. He has even said that he wants to roll back Medicaid expansion, which has provided health care to over 720,000 Pennsylvanians, including over 215,000 Pennsylvanians who are struggling with a substance use disorder.

The Governor of Pennsylvania makes serious decisions about the state of health care in the commonwealth, and Scott Wagner would be an absolute disaster for Pennsylvania.
